Report of Marriage

A Filipino citizen married outside the Philippines must register the marriage with the Philippine Foreign Service Post (Embassy or Consulate) of the country where the marriage was officiated.

A report of Marriage will then be issued and transmitted by the Philippine Foreign Service Post through the Department of Foreign Affairs for registration and recording with the Office of the Civil Registrar General in the Philippines.

The Consular Section of the Embassy of the Philippines New Delhi can only undertake the marriage registration process of the marriage of a Filipino citizen that took place in India.

procedure and requirements

  1. Submit a duly accomplished Report of Marriage Form in Triplicate.

All Data entries should be printed legibly.
The wife must indicate her maiden name in all the forms.
The contracting parties must provide all the details required in the Report of Marriage Form to avoid unnecessary delays.

  1. Submit an attested / authenticated Marriage Certificate issued by the local authorities at the place of marriage. An Abstract Copy of the details of the marriage is NOT Accepted.

Documents to be presented or submitted to the Consular section of the Embassy must be attested by the Patiala House of the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi or by any of the Philippine Consulates Generals in Chennai, Kolkatta or Mumbai. The consulates only attest documents executed in areas under its respective jurisdictions and only after the documents have been attested by the State.

  1. Submit the Birth Certificate and photocopies of the personal data page of the passport of the contracting parties to the marriage (husband and wife).
  2. Submit each required document together with three (3) photocopies. The original documents will be returned to the contracting parties after verification evaluation.
  3. Additional documents may be required when necessary.
  4. Submit three (3) colored passport-sized photos with plain white background – 1.77" x 1.37" (4.5 x 3.5 cm) – of each of the contracting parties to the marriage. The photo should have been taken within the last six (6) months from date of application for Report of Marriage with the person signing on the side or bottom of his / her photo.
  5. Pay the fee of NRs 2,320.00 for a Report of Marriage. Documents to be returned by mail require an additional fee of NRs. 500.00 for return courier service.

Payments must be made in the form of demand draft payable to the Embassy of the Philippines drawn from a bank in New Delhi.
