In depth
VOITH has ventured into cement production with the world's top cement company, Huaxin Cement Co. Ltd. The total investment in the project in Nepal is USD 250 million. Production commenced in May 2022.
The state-of-the-art plant has been designed with sustainability and growth in mind, and has drastically improved the quality of life in the geographic region around it.
The plant is located between two populous cities, Kathmandu and Pokhara, and has a production capacity of 4,000 tons a day, with plans to expand to 6,000 tons in the future. It directly employs around 1,000 personnel.
Nepal's construction sector contributes about 10–11% of GDP and uses roughly 35% of the national budget. Huaxin Cement Narayani supplies the cement backbone for highways, housing, hydropower, and the next decade of national infrastructure build-out.
